I was just wondering why you have to include the angle that the rope is being pulled at in question #470, but you don't have to include the angle in #466?

You have to look at what is actually pulling the masses up. In 466, the mass is being pulled directly upwards by the two strings on the right. The Force applied "F" is not directly pulling the mass up, rather, "F" is transferred across the pulley as two forces pointing straight up in the two ropes on the right. Therefore, the angle at which F is applied does not matter.

In 470, the mass is being pulled up by two ropes at an angle, since these ropes are not pulling directly upwards, only their vertical component counts.
