Can anyone explain why gravity is g/2 in 241 and 1/3g in 242?

Thanks

241) sum of forces = m*a,
X- Dirn

ma = T
m(woman)*a=T

Y- Dirn

ma = Fg -T
m(block)*a=m(block)*g-T

From X Dirn, a=T/m(woman)

m(block)*T/m(woman)=m(block)*g-T

since m(block) = m(woman) in this case

T=m(block)*g-T
2*T =m(block)*g
T = m(block)*g/2
T = 50*10/2 = 250 N

242)

Same as above but:

m(block)*T/m(man)=m(block)*g-T
(50/100)T = m(block)*g-T
T/2 = m(block)*g-T
T/2 + T = m(block)*g
(3/2)T = m(block)*g
T = m(block)*g *(2/3)
T = 50 * 10 * 2 / 3
T = 1000/3
T = 333 N

Cheers
