Hi I was wondering why CHO is higher in priority than OH in this question and then second in priority to OH in Q157 when assigning R/S configuration?
Thanks

You always look at the first point of difference. OH will be the first priority in both cases, followed by CHO because its bond to two oxygens. You can look at the atomic number, MW or even electronegativity. The answer is the book is incorrect.
