Hi,

Do the small or large intestines themselves make any digestive enzymes? If so, which ones?

Thank you

Hi Natasha,

I would direct you to page 180 of the BioBiochem CC where a master list of secreted enzymes, and where these enzymes are made.

The small intestine makes these moelcuels in the intestinal glands:

1. sucrase
2. maltase
3. lactase
4. aminopeptidase
5. dipeptidases
6. enterokinase
7. enterogastrone

6 and 7 are much more important to know than 1-5.

I hope this helps!

Katt
