Question 12 states that protein denaturation involving boiling and cooling to room temp is an irreversible process and the protein would be permanently damaged.

I know there are many cases in which protein denaturation is reversible. Is it considered standard in the MCAT that protein denaturation is irreversible?

Hey there,

Protein denaturation can be either reversible or irreversible. It definitely depends on if there is any mention of renaturing/denaturing within the passage material. In the case of this passage, it states that its activity drops to zero irreversibly once boiled.

Hope that helps!
