Hi,

I had a question regarding passage #2:

How do we know that the oligonucleotides are mRNA and not DNA?

Also, option D for question 10: Another reason this option choice is wrong is because the anti-sense would be identical to the template strand with the exception of thymine being replaced with uracil?

Hi Moiz,

I'm having trouble finding these questions on Altius. Could you please be a bit more specific about where these questions are from?

Thanks!

Hello Moiz,

Oligonucleotides can be RNA or DNA pieces that are small. In this passage #2 question #7, it refers to Table 1. Table 1 refers to mRNA so you can infer these are the oligonucleotides they are mentioning.

A lot of taking the MCAT is more skill than just rote memorization and knowledge. The more you practice taking tests the more you will be able to infer things like these.

For #10, the anti-sense strand is the template strand. The non-template/sense strand has the identical sequence of the RNA (except for the substitution of U for T so yep!

Hope this helps,

Kennedy
