Are case-control studies quasi-experiments since they do not use randomization and are cohort studies also quasi-experiments since the researcher does not control the IV (it is just observed)?

Thank you

Hello,

Yes, you are correct. Quasi-experiments or non-experimental designs refer to study designs which lack some of the experiemntal design elements, such as randomization, manipulation or control. In case-control studies, like you said, there is no randomization, hence it would be a quasi-experiment and similarly, cohort studies often lack both randomization and manipulation.
