Hi,
How is pyruvate and not lactate the final electron acceptor? Doesn't pyruvate get reduced to lactate?
Thank you

Hi,
Recall that a reduction is a gain of electrons (LEO the Lion says GER).
As a result, when we say pyruvate is the final electron receptor, this is an alternate way to say that it is gaining electrons and being reduced to lactate.
Hope this helps!
