Hello,

I am a bit confused on how to find the units for work -> are we stating that Kpa x L = Joules
Because in the book it states that pressure must have units of KPA for the equation to yield J and we have to convert the pressure values if the answer choices are in J. I’m just not 100% sure how to convert to joules from KPA in the work equation .

Thank you!

Hi Daniela,

Yes to what you said about the unit equivalencies; its

W = P x V (disregarding negative signs right now)
1J = 1kPa x 1L

So to convert from kPa to J, you will need the volume, and you will multiple the volume (in L) to the pressure (in kPa).

I think you are already on the right track. Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Cheers, and happy studying!
