Hello,

I came across this question and I was wondering why the answer wouldn't be A. The stem is

"In the macronucleus, the genes for rRNA are located extrachromosomally. This suggests that the rRNA genes are:"

The answer choices are

A. nonlinear.
B. nonfunctional.
C. self-replicating.
D. rearranged.

I thought that in prokaryotes any extrachromosomal DNA is referring to a plasmid and is thus circular, not linear.

Thank you in advance

Hello,

Extrachromosomal DNA in prokaryotes are typically in the form of plasmids (circular) however, there are prokaryotes with linear extrachromosomal DNA. For that reason, C is your best answer.

I hope this helps!
