Hello! I was confused with this question because based on my map of the passage, I thought that contemporary art was different than modern art. I noted that Theodor Adorno made a comment on modern art as being somewhat transient and ephemeral but I didn't really see any explicit mention of him mentioning contemporary art. My interpretation of the answer is that contemporary art and modern art are considered the same? So when Adorno made the comment on modern art - he's also referring to contemporary?
Any help is appreciated!

Hi! I was a little confused about how to approach this question and why the answer is D. I eliminated A immediately, and was stuck between B,C,and D and ended up choosing the wrong answer B because I couldn’t differentiate between C and D. Any help is appreciated!

Hi! I had a question about question 17 from passage 3. I was wondering where from the question stem that we can infer that the post-menopausal women were suffering from hypothyroidism and this condition would be worsened because of the increased estrogen intake? Is this information listed in the passage or is it knowledge from classroom companion or EK book?

Hello, I had a question about question 7 from Passage 2 - the answer indicated as the correct one was B. I was a little confused with the explanation because it stated that “aquatic vertebrates would have less requirement to block UV light” but this is used as an explanation of why aquatic invertebrates have more melanocytes compared to terrestrial vertebrates. My thought process is that if aquatic vertebrates have less requirement to block UV light then shouldn’t they have less - not more melanocytes?

Hello! I was wondering if I could get clarification on these 2 questions from the Bio After Class Practice Set 3
Q- 49
I had trouble understanding the reason why the answer is 1/2. I figured that if the father was autosomal dominant for Huntington’s and the mother was assumed to be normal, that the probability of the child getting the disease would be 1/2 (as the mother would always give an unaffected gene but the father could either give a copy of the affected gene or a normal). Why is there a probability that the child will get the disease and also another probability that the disease allele is passed on?

This question I was just confused and chose monohybrid cross because I figured that a test cross we cross an individual with a dominant phenotype with a homozygous recessive inidividual to figure out whether the individual is homozygous or heterozygous for the dominant trait. I didn’t think that it would still be considered a test cross if the genotype of the dominant phenotype indiivdual was already known before the cross. Can this be clarified?

Hello! I got this question right but I just wanted clarification on why one of the other answers was wrong. I just assumed that a Southern Blot looks at DNA therefore cannot really tell anything about gene expression. Northern Blots and Reverse Transcription PCR were easy eliminations because both were regarding RNA and related to gene expression. Eliminating Western Blot was a little tricky because all I could remember was that they can analyze levels of protein expression but I didn’t know whether they could analyze anything about gene expression. Is the reason why Western Blots can detect gene expression is that since protein is made by mRNA transcripts that by looking at protein expression levels, you can analyze the mRNA expression levels which the protein derived from?
Any clarification would be helpful thank you!

Hi! I had trouble understanding the explanation for the answer for Q8 (Passage 2) on the After Class Practice Set 2. I understand that from the passage we know that higher systolic blood pressure is a marker of higher stress. From the question stem, I thought when they stated "SES during infancy was positively associated with systolic BP", that this meant that upward mobility (increase in SES) is correlated with an increase in blood pressure (I know it seems counterintuitive but that's what I understood from "positively associated". The answer explanation says that "upward mobility from infancy to adolescence is associated with lower stress". Wouldn't that mean that the SES during infancy would be negatively associated with blood pressure? - but this isn't what the question stem said via my interpretation so I might just be misunderstanding.
A second question, I'm not sure I fully understand the answer explanation for Q34 for Passage 6, I'm not too sure how "improved adherence to human rights" is least consistent with cultural relativism. If any elaboration could be given that would be very helpful.

Hi Katrina! Thanks so much, I can see that I was mainly tripped up on how to include the ruler in the torque equation and didn't realize that the fulcrum and the centre of mass were different but now I understand :)
