Hello there, I honestly didn't understand what was going on in passage 5 of phys/chem section of AAMC FL1. Any explanation and/or guidance on the passage itself would be appreciated.

That helped me out too, thanks! Just another question about mobility. What would be an example of horizontal mobility? Could an example be a worker moving from being a fast food restaurant employee to a cashier at a grocery store (changing job types but both being minimum wage jobs)?

The independent question reads: "A researcher finds a +0.38 correlation between a test of verbal intelligence and a test of spatial intelligence. Speculating about a common factor, “g,” the researcher concludes that:" A) Performance on both tests is partly determined by "g" B) The two tests measure different things, which does not include a g component. C) Both tests are excellent measures of g D) g is a statistical artifact with no real-world validity.
The answer is A and I don't understand why. If the question says that there is a correlation between the two tests doesn't that mean it only looked at the relationship between the two tests and not any other factors? I was thinking that it meant that a scores on one test are correlated with scores on the other test (ex. you score high on verbal intelligence test you are likely to score high on spatial intelligence test as well.)
I understand that the question said there could be a common factor between them but I thought because the correlation analysis wasn't performed between the tests and the factor g specifically, I couldn't draw correlational relationships between the tests and factor g. I thought the answer was B.
An explanation would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi there, For question 37. The correct answer is C and while I agree this statement has little support in it I don't believe it was a passage assertion. It was implied at the end of paragraph 2 but never actually stated by the author. The question says which passage assertion is least supported so I eliminated C because it wasn't a passage assertion. I selected answer D because even though I felt it was intuitive why natural disasters cannot be prevented the author never explained why he felt that way and didn't provide evidence to this assertion.
Are inferences about the passage considered to be passage assertions? I have been slightly confused with which assumptions and inferences can be made and which can't. If the MCAT asks a question such as "which of the following passage assertions..." does it need to outright be an assertion of the passage (not word for word but at least clearly expressed) or can it be an inference type of thing such as this answer was?

Hello, The question asks for which of the following is Soft Fascination. The answer includes the park, nature slideshow and museum. In the passage it says that "the attention-drawing quality of natural settings is referred to as 'soft fascination'." I know that a museum was mentioned as being a restorative environment but it's not natural so how can it be soft fascination. From what I understood soft fascination is not the same thing as a restorative environment.
Any clarification would be appreciated :)

Could someone explain why the answer is B not D. The chart in fig 1 shows that P1 cells split into EMS and P2.

Hi there, The wording of the answer choices for question 66 is throwing me off. I don't understand what irrelevant vs relevant means with regards to the question. Like what is it comparing the relevance to? Further the correct answer says the objector doesn't say this which makes the authors argument relevant and its just not making sense to me. Any guidance would be very much appreciated!

Hi, I was wondering why impurities in a compound would only ever decrease the melting point and never increase it. I understand why the melting range is broadened and why the melting range would change but not the direction of the change. In my head I'm currently thinking that it's possible an impurity may have a higher melting point than the pure compound therefore increasing the melting point. If someone could explain this that would be awesome :)

Hi there, I was wondering if someone could explain why there is no need to include the angle in this calculation of work. I thought forces perpendicular to the displacement do not do any work. In this question then I thought W = Fdsin(60). Because the object is moving vertically rather than horizontal I chose sin instead of cos. (Not sure if the picture will show up).

What is the difference between speciation and adaptive radiation? The way I understand it is that they both involve the process of one species evolving into another. What's the major difference between them?
