Hello,
I noticed a pattern with Altius FLs that I attempted to use as a strategy on this FL, but I got the answer wrong here. I noticed that on more than one Altius test, when the question said “the author IMPLIES…”, the right answer was not outwardly stated but instead was an assumption. I tried to use that on this FL and thus eliminated answer choice A (the right answer), because the statement was stated clearly in a sentence and thus was not an implication. Is this thinking/strategy wrong? Was that just a difference between Altius and AAMC material?
Thanks!

Hello,
For question 52 in the BioBioChem section, the question asks which p27 variant exhibits greatest cell cycle arrest.
The passage never referred to the wild type P27 as a variant and stated “using wild type p27 and three mutant variants”. Thus, when I went to answer this question I eliminated WT p27 right away because I did not think it classified as a variant since it was never referred to as one. Am I wrong in this thinking?
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
I've noticed that I have been scoring fairly well on my VR101 tests (usually just 0-1 wrong per passage). But, on my Altius FLs I've been ranging in the 122-124 range (multiple wrong per passage). On both tests I have been employing the same strategies and I haven't been too rushed on time.
I'm wondering if there is a difficulty difference for Altius vs VR101? Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm having difficulties figuring out where I am at because my scores differ so much between the two practice materials.

Hello,
I recently did Altius FLE 1 and did fairly well on the first 5 passages, but did pretty terrible on the last 4. I realized that I mapped the first 5 passages and likely did well on them because I mapped as I read. After the 5th passage, I realized I was short on time and thus avoided mapping for the last 4 passages because I thought I might not be able to finish if I kept mapping. Even though I didn’t map the last passages, I was still running short on time and felt very rushed.
I’m just wondering if there are any strategies about whether or not we should map every single passage and also how we should deal with the time it takes to map. I feel like if I had enough time to map every single passage I likely would’ve done better, but I also would not have been able to complete all the questions.
Thanks!
