Hello,

I'm confused why for Q57 in Altius FL3 Chem section, the NADH produces 10 protons and the FADH2 produces 6 protons? I thought from the electron transport chain, NADH will produce 3 protons and FADH2 will produce 2 protons?

Thanks!

Hi Nicole,

NADH pumps 10 H+ ions which is equivalent to about 3 ATP (takes ~3 H+ for each ATP) and FADH2 pumps 6 H+ ions which is equivalent to about 2 ATP.

Hope that helps,

Molly
