Just to be clear, we don't need to know the stages of mitosis and meiosis, correct? Just know what the result is after mitosis, meiosis I and II in terms of genetic identity and number of chromosomes and chromatids?

Although you don't need to know every detail of the stages of mitosis and meiosis, it is definitely helpful to know what the stages are called and what they consist of. However, as you said, it is much more important to emphasize the differences between the two types of cellular division and the end results in terms of chromosome and chromatids as this is what the MCAT questions will focus on.
