On Examkrackers chemistry page 9, it says " in perfect shielding, each electron added to an atom would be completely shielded from the attractive force of all protons except for the last proton added..."

This confuses me because I thought protons could not be added to an atom?

Good Morning,

There are ways in which protons can be added or removed from atoms (radioactive decay, nuclear fission/fusion rx etc.). These would be the situations in which this statement would apply
