Question 9 in the after class practice set for Chem 6 asks about octane being exposed to oxygen at room temperature and what would happen with the reaction.

I chose C, saying it would not occur because it is kinetically limited under these conditions. When checking the answers it listed this as false, although the explanation says this explanation is correct.

The correct answer listed is that the reaction occurs because ΔG is negative but under the explanation says this is false.

I just wanted to check to see if these explanations were mixed up.

Hi Elaine,

You are correct: C should be the correct answer for this question. I'll be sure to get the changed as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Mike
