This is a question from the ExamKrackers 101 passages for verbal reasoning. While doing the cars journal for verbal reasoning test 2 I was unable to understand the reasoning for one of the questions. In passage 2 (on industrial melanism) question 8 it asks about the discrepancies on the distribution of melanic moths. It says the correct answer is D (info not provided) whereas I thought it was selective predation. The explanation says selective predation is not offered as a response to the question. I may be misunderstanding it but I thought that this was the correct answer due to the quote from the passage (lines 51-55).

Hello!

The answer can be found in thinking about the passage and the opinion of Kettlewell's data.... we are told that Kettlewell was incorrect and not what we can attribute later findings to. In question 8, A, B, C are all descriptions that we could attribute to Kettlewell, and since the passage tells us his data was not correct, we cannot choose any of those.
