Hello,

I just had a question regarding get oxygenation of cysteine, When were stating that cysteine can oxidize its SH group , but what does they exactly imply , does that mean that it can remove its H group and then form the disulfide bridge to contribute to the 3D stricture of DNA ?

Just a little confused with their facts

Hey Daniela!

Oxidized -SH will remove the protons, and will form disulfide bonds.
I am not certain about disulfide bonds in DNA (saying this because my research induces disulfide bonds in DNA-based structures, and I don't know if you are looking at an example of that)... but there are definitely disulfides in amino acids for formation of proteins.
