Hi Gilbert,
I'll just reiterate the question here:
A redox reaction is conducted at at 298 K and everything has initial 1 M concentration (standard conditions).
If the total potential for the reaction is E = +20 mV, which of the following must be true?
I would like to go through this question through elimination like one would on the MCAT.
The important facts I would use here are:
1.A positive E will mean a negative delta G
2. A negative delta G means the reaction will proceed in the forward direction.
3. If the reaction proceeds forward, the [products] > [reactants]
4. This ratio of products to reactants means that this reaction will have a K > 1
Answers A and D can be eliminated by statement 4, and C can be eliminated by statement 1. I have included statements 2/3 because they are the logical steps I to get to 4.
This leaves us with B. I can reconfirm B because although they are listing conditions for Q as you state, those conditions also happen to be standard conditions.
I hope this helps!
