Hi! Sorry for the picky question, but the text on page 195 of the CC states that the enol tautomer is more stable and it is present at higher amounts during equilibrium. However, the relative percentages underneath the molecules shows that the enol is only 15%. Am I misunderstanding something?

Hi Kerelos,

No worries, good attention to detail. By more stable, we mean that that enol is more stable than a regular enol. A regular enol is like 1 x 10-6 in terms of frequency.

Because of the 6 member H bond ring, that particular enol is more stable than a typical enol, but as you rightly point out, not as stable as a ketone.
