Hi,

For question 29, its asking for the tone of the passage. I felt that the author seems to be defensive because she was defending the fact that Petrie was involved in eugenics and not just archeology, so im not sure why it would be objective.

Hello,

For this question the tone is considered objective because throughout the passage, the author represents all sides of the argument. Throughout the passage the author presents the material with very little opinion. This presentation of all sides and acknowledgement of the value of Eugenics to science is an objective tone. there is not side being taken on the work Petrie did - both positives and negatives are presented

Hi!

I was wondering the same thing. I feel like the first 6 paragraphs are quite objective since it doesn't really show positives nor negatives. However, I feel that the last paragraph really shows the author supporting or defending Petrie's work in eugenics. Since everything was quite neutral prior, and this last paragraph showed the author defending Petrie's work, I felt that C was a stronger choice than D.

I'm wondering where my reasoning is flawed?

Thanks so much!!

Hi Nicole,

I think the distinction is that the question is asking about the author's attitude towards the work, whereas the last paragraph is defending his omission from the field.

Sincerely,
Meaghan
