I was reviewing my first full length exam again, and I was a little confused about Q38 from the Chem/Phys section. If we added HCl, wouldn't the Le Chatelier Principle cause the reaction to drive backwards to compensate?

Also is there anyway to add images on these posts :,) The forum is a lil confusing to navigate haha, and I feel so bad that you have to search for the question everytime I post a question. Thank you for your hardwork though!

Hi Mariam,

If we were to add more acid with acid in the reactant side, the reaction will actually be pushed forwards, not backwards. We can push a reaction forwards by either adding reactant, or removing product.

As for the image question; I am not sure about that. I'll let someone else who is a bit more techy get back to you on that!

Cheers,

Molly
