Hi,

For Q48 in Passage 10, I'm stuck between A and B. I went with A because of the word "popular" in choice B. From the passage, it seemed like the people like to be one of a kind, so it made me think that they wouldn't be drawn to popular things, since popular would mean lots of people have it, hence them not standing out or being special.

Could you explain where my reasoning is flawed?

Thanks

Answer choice A is a bit simplistic. The author wasn't only talking about handbags, but about luxurious items that are status symbols and desired goods. Desired goods that bring you status would be popular. It doesn't negate the idea of one of a kind. For example, a $4000 Hermes handbag would be very popular, desirable and a status symbol. But not a lot of people have them, because of the price. Yet the name is very popular!
