Hello,

I had a question from the AAMC section bank .

I’m just confused on the reasoning behind this answer,

“ A single point mutation in a gene results in a non functional protein . Individuals heterozygous for this mutation were identified using souther blot. Which pair of wild type and mutant alters most likely contains the mutation ?

The correct answer is :

WT: 5’TAGTCGAAGCTTAGGCATCT-3
M: 5’TAGTCDATGCTTAGGCATCT-3

MUTANT (M)

THANK YOU!

Hi Daniela,

I don't think I have enough context to answer this question - can you send me a screenshot of this question to katerinadschwab@gmail.com?

Thanks,

Katt
