Hi Moiz,
83) The last paragraph of the passage illustrates the heightened problem that arises in infants born to poorly controlled diabetic mothers. These infants have high levels of insulin in the blood even after glucose from the blood is depleted. The passage talks about the importance of glucose release from the liver in order to maintain blood glucose levels and prevent brain injury. Insulin triggers the absorption of glucose from the blood, but if there is no more glucose in the blood (as what happens in these babies after 70 mins) insulin is no help. We need glucagon to trigger release of glucose into the blood to prevent brain injury.
88) Succinyl-CoA synthetase catalyzes the conversion of succinyl-CoA to succinate and in the process producing GTP from GDP. So if we have increased activity of the enzyme we will get more end products of the reaction, a.k.a, succinate and GTP.
Hope this helps :)
